Job Overview

Elanco, a global leader in animal health, is seeking an Associate Manager – R&D Project Management to drive efficient project execution, portfolio delivery, and operational excellence within R&D teams. This role focuses on integrating project management processes, tools, and best practices to ensure timely, high-quality deliverables within budget and scope. The position offers exposure to cross-functional collaboration across Research & Development, Regulatory, Quality, Manufacturing, Finance, and Innovation Strategy teams, supporting Elanco’s mission of improving animal health and welfare globally.

This role is ideal for candidates with 5–6 years of experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or R&D project management, skilled in planning, execution, and stakeholder management using modern project management tools.


Key Responsibilities

Project Planning and Execution

  • Coordinate with R&D project teams to plan, schedule, and execute key deliverables using MS Project, Project Online (POL), and other project management tools.

  • Maintain project plans, milestones, and documentation in business systems, ensuring timely updates.

  • Monitor project timelines, budgets, and risks, proactively communicating changes or delays to stakeholders.

  • Ensure project deliverables are completed on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with internal standards.

Budget and Resource Management

  • Collaborate with Project Teams and Procurement to track, update, and manage project budgets using POL, SAP, and other systems.

  • Support forecasting, variance analysis, and provide actionable insights into cost drivers and resourcing requirements.

Stakeholder Communication

  • Facilitate regular project meetings, document decisions, and track key action items.

  • Communicate project progress, risks, dependencies, and mitigation plans to stakeholders.

  • Build and maintain effective relationships with internal functions, including R&D, Regulatory, Quality, Manufacturing, Marketing, Finance, and Innovation Strategy.

Risk and Quality Oversight

  • Lead risk identification, assessment, and mitigation planning to prevent potential project issues.

  • Maintain accurate, phase-appropriate project documentation in alignment with internal quality standards and governance processes.

Continuous Improvement

  • Contribute to PMO initiatives to improve process efficiency, standardization, and operational discipline.

  • Promote a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within R&D teams.


Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Biotechnology, or related technical field.

  • 5–6 years of project management experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or R&D organizations.

  • Experience with project and financial management tools, including MS Project, Excel, SAP, and Ariba.

  • Familiarity with R&D, clinical, or regulatory processes preferred.

  • Working knowledge of Power BI or similar visualization tools; familiarity with AI or digital productivity tools is an advantage.
