Role Overview:
Eli Lilly and Company is expanding its Gastroenterology MSL team, providing an exciting opportunity to contribute to a new therapeutic area while leveraging established MSL teams across other Immunology therapeutic areas. The GI MSLs will establish new relationships with external experts and collaborate with global and U.S. development and Medical Affairs teams to support Lilly’s development activities.

Purpose:
The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) program is designed to meet the needs of Scientific Experts (SEs) by providing deep scientific knowledge, facilitating meaningful scientific exchange, and addressing important clinical and scientific questions. MSLs communicate strategic insights gathered from SEs to inform Lilly’s research and commercialization strategies.


Primary Responsibilities:

1. Maintain and Effectively Communicate Deep Scientific Knowledge

  • Engage in continuous learning to maintain high-level technical expertise in the therapeutic area.

  • Establish trust as a reliable resource of accurate, up-to-date medical and scientific knowledge.

2. Excel at Customer Engagement and Support Scientific Needs

  • Engage in two-way dialogues with SEs to provide disease state and product information.

  • Connect SEs with appropriate Lilly resources or internal partners.

  • Identify potential collaborative research opportunities.

3. Strategic Vision and Leadership

  • Synthesize and communicate clinical insights and unanswered questions from SEs.

  • Utilize internal resources effectively to provide solutions and contribute to medical planning and strategy.

4. Territory Ownership

  • Demonstrate strategic planning, prioritization, and execution within assigned territory.

  • Adhere to compliance standards and demonstrate sound judgment in all activities.


Minimum Qualification Requirements:

  • Education: Advanced degree in health sciences (e.g., PharmD, MD, PhD) with 2-3 years of clinically relevant experience.

  • Consideration: Master's or bachelor’s degree in health sciences (e.g., BSN, RPh, PA, NP) with 5+ years of clinical, research, or industry experience in a relevant therapeutic area.

  • Legal Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Sponsorship is not available.

  • Valid U.S. Driver's License: Required.


Additional Preferences:

  • Preference to reside within Southern California (Los Angeles or San Diego preferred) and 30 minutes from a major airport.

  • Ability to travel up to 80%, including 4-6 weekends annually.

  • Strong intellectual curiosity and learning agility to communicate complex scientific content effectively.

  • Ability to work independently in the field and manage multiple priorities.

  • Advanced presentation and computer skills, with expertise in literature review.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong teamwork, interpersonal skills, and emotional intelligence.


Other Information:

  • Compensation: $145,500 - $213,400 per year.
