Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Coder – Surgery to join our healthcare operations team in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in surgical and multispecialty coding, demonstrating accuracy, compliance, and adherence to established coding guidelines. This role is essential in ensuring proper coding of medical records, supporting revenue cycle optimization, and maintaining regulatory compliance.
The position requires a minimum of 6 months of hands-on surgical coding experience with multispecialty exposure and relevant certification in medical coding.
Key Responsibilities
Accurately abstract and code medical records from multispecialty outpatient surgery centers and hospitals, including diagnoses, procedures, and modifiers.
Assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II codes with appropriate modifiers, ensuring compliance with CMS, NCCI, AMA, and AHA guidelines.
Maintain coding productivity, with a target of 4–6 charts per hour, while meeting quality standards.
Review and validate coding against NCCI edits, LCD/NCD determinations, and client-specific coding guidelines.
Monitor and implement updates from coding authorities, including AMA, AHA, and CMS.
Collaborate with team members to improve coding accuracy, quality, and productivity across the department.
Ensure confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA policies and organizational security protocols.
Organize and prioritize tasks to maintain regulatory compliance and meet deadlines.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or equivalent.
Certified through AAPC or AHIMA (CPC, CCS, CIC, or COC). Valid certification must be presented during the hiring process.
6+ months of hands-on experience in multispecialty surgical coding, including E&M coding.
Expertise in coding surgical procedures across specialties such as Dermatology, Gastroenterology, Cardiology, Otolaryngology, and others.
Strong knowledge of medical terminology, human anatomy, and physiology.
Proficiency in ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and modifier guidelines.
