Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of 25–30 certified coders.

  • Oversee staff orientation, training, and ensure a safe, secure, and compliant work environment.

  • Manage performance metrics including timeliness, quality, and productivity.

  • Plan, monitor, and appraise job results; provide coaching, counseling, and discipline when required.

  • Develop, coordinate, and enforce systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standards.

  • Maintain high-quality service by:

    • Enforcing customer service and quality standards

    • Analyzing and resolving quality/customer issues

    • Identifying trends and recommending improvements

  • Build professional and technical knowledge through workshops, publications, networking, and professional societies.

  • Drive employee engagement and retention by:

    • Sharing company vision and goals

    • Empowering employees according to skill set

    • Providing continuous feedback and recognition

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, contracts, and directives, including work shifts, reassignments, and flexible arrangements as business needs evolve.


Required Qualifications

  • Education: Graduate in any discipline

  • Certification: Certified coder (AAPC or AHIMA)

  • Experience:

    • 2+ years as Team Leader or Assistant Manager

    • Experience leading a team of minimum 15 coders

    • Background in medical coding (HCC) is mandatory

  • Skills & Competencies:

    • Performance management, coaching, supervision, quality management

    • Results-driven, fosters teamwork, works well under pressure

    • Strong feedback and people management skills

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

    • Ability to operate basic office equipment (copier, fax, etc.)
