Role Overview

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking an experienced Application Specialist – Molecular Biology to support advanced workflow applications in molecular and clinical research. Based in Hyderabad, this hybrid role will focus on developing, demonstrating, and integrating molecular biology and bioinformatics workflows while enabling customer success through technical expertise, hands-on training, and solution-driven collaboration. The role plays a strategic part in advancing clinical diagnostics and research innovation across India and the APAC region.

Experience Required

  • Minimum 10+ years of professional experience in Molecular Biology, Diagnostics, or Bioanalytical Applications

  • Prior experience working with Thermo Fisher Scientific instruments and platforms is highly preferred

Educational Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Pharmacy, or a related life sciences discipline

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology, Life Sciences, Engineering, or equivalent academic background

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and demonstrate integrated molecular biology and bioinformatics workflows by leveraging technologies across Thermo Fisher Scientific portfolios

  • Conduct live demonstrations, hands-on method development, and technical training at the Customer Experience Center (CEC)

  • Enable customer adoption and technical success through workflow optimization and application support

  • Collaborate with global product management, R&D, and application teams to pilot, localize, and optimize workflows for India and the broader APAC region

  • Support advanced molecular biology applications including gene expression analysis, genome editing, cell therapy, and molecular diagnostics

  • Provide protocol optimization, troubleshooting, and technical guidance to customers and internal teams

  • Act as a subject matter expert, translating scientific workflows into practical, customer-ready solutions

Required Technical Expertise

  • Strong understanding of integrated laboratory workflows, including instruments, consumables, automation, and software

  • Hands-on experience with molecular biology platforms and technologies

  • Familiarity with workflow integration involving instruments such as LC-MS/MS, immunoassays, and automated systems

  • Expertise in molecular diagnostics, genomic workflows, and bioinformatics-driven applications

  • Proven ability to deliver customer training, technical presentations, and application demonstrations
