Senior Associate – RWE Application Development
(Senior Statistical Programmer – Real World Evidence)


Position Summary

The Senior Associate – RWE Application Development plays a critical role in generating Real-World Evidence (RWE) to support Amgen products throughout the drug development lifecycle. This position focuses on enhancing and supporting R Shiny applications, developing web-based solutions, and delivering high-quality programming outcomes across globally distributed teams.

The successful candidate will collaborate with stakeholders across multiple time zones, manage technical programming activities, and contribute to the development of innovative data-driven solutions supporting observational research and evidence generation.


Key Responsibilities

Application Development & Support

  • Enhance and maintain existing R Shiny applications with a focus on user interface and front-end improvements.

  • Provide technical support for the Atlas web-based application from the OHDSI community.

  • Develop and implement web applications using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

  • Optimize and maintain data workflows to support efficient data processing and analysis.

  • Refactor and optimize application code to improve performance, reliability, and scalability.

  • Validate and test software tools to ensure quality and compliance.

Programming & Technical Leadership

  • Provide technical solutions for programming challenges within the Center for Observational Research (CfOR).

  • Lead programming initiatives and process improvement projects.

  • Establish coding standards and best practices for R package development and R Shiny applications.

  • Stay informed about emerging R programming technologies and industry trends.

Project Management & Collaboration

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions.

  • Participate in Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) processes.

  • Manage programming activities according to project timelines and resource plans.

  • Ensure all programming deliverables comply with departmental standards and quality requirements.

  • Represent the programming function during multidisciplinary project meetings.

  • Participate actively in departmental and cross-functional meetings.

  • Maintain effective communication with team members and stakeholders across global locations.


Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Experience

  • 5–8 years of relevant professional experience in software development, programming, or application development.

  • Hands-on experience in full-stack development environments.

  • Experience working within globally distributed teams and cross-functional projects.
