Job Summary
The Senior Associate – RWE Application Development is responsible for the development, enhancement, maintenance, and support of Real-World Evidence (RWE) applications and data platforms used across Amgen's Clinical and Observational Research functions.
This is a hands-on application development role focused on R Shiny, Java-based applications, web technologies, and Real-World Data platforms. The position supports multiple global teams and is responsible for maintaining existing applications, developing new features, improving user experience, and ensuring reliable delivery of business-critical solutions.
This is not a traditional Statistical Programming role. The primary focus is software application development, dashboard development, platform support, and web application modernization.
Key Responsibilities
Application Development & Maintenance
Develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise R Shiny applications used for Real-World Evidence analytics.
Support and maintain existing Java-based applications, including the Atlas platform.
Redesign and modernize application interfaces to improve usability and performance.
Troubleshoot application issues and implement sustainable technical solutions.
Perform application upgrades, enhancements, and bug fixes.
R Shiny Development
Design and build interactive dashboards using R Shiny.
Develop reusable components and scalable application frameworks.
Optimize application performance and user experience.
Create visualization solutions for Real-World Data and observational research programs.
Implement coding standards and best practices for R Shiny development.
Java & Web Development
Support and maintain Atlas, a Java-based application.
Develop front-end components using:
HTML
CSS
JavaScript
Enhance existing web applications and build new functionality.
Participate in application architecture discussions and modernization initiatives.
Real-World Evidence (RWE) Platform Support
Support applications used for generating Real-World Evidence.
Work with Real-World Data sources including:
Insurance Claims Data
Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
Patient Registries
Healthcare Databases
Support observational research workflows and data-driven applications.
OHDSI & OMOP Support
Provide support for Atlas and OHDSI ecosystem applications.
Work with OMOP Common Data Model implementations.
Collaborate with global RWE teams on observational data initiatives.
Support enhancements within the OHDSI platform environment.
DevOps & CI/CD
Participate in Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment activities.
Utilize Git-based version control workflows.
Support deployment, testing, validation, and release activities.
Contribute to automation and software quality initiatives.
Project & Stakeholder Management
Collaborate with global teams across multiple time zones.
Gather business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
Manage assigned development activities and project timelines.
Communicate project status, risks, and technical recommendations to stakeholders.
Participate in multidisciplinary project meetings.
Quality & Innovation
Conduct application testing and validation.
Ensure compliance with development standards and best practices.
Continuously evaluate emerging technologies and development frameworks.
Drive process improvement and innovation initiatives within the RWE technology ecosystem.
