DICE Therapeutics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Eli Lilly & Co., operates within Lilly Research Labs, focusing on small molecule drug discovery, spanning from target identification to clinical candidate selection. We are seeking a skilled medicinal chemist to join our research team, bringing expertise in synthetic organic chemistry and medicinal chemistry to help drive innovation in small molecule drug discovery.

Responsibilities:

  • Independently plan and execute the synthesis, purification, and characterization of target molecules.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams, including hit finding, in vitro pharmacology, computational chemistry, and DMPK teams, to advance drug discovery efforts.
  • Coordinate sample shipments and testing by working closely with compound management teams across multiple sites.
  • Design new compounds using computational tools and methods to advance the program.
  • Manage external chemistry teams, guiding synthetic strategy, optimization, and target prioritization.

Basic Requirements:

  • PhD in Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of drug discovery experience in the pharmaceutical industry.

Additional Skills/Preferences:

  • Expertise in small molecule organic synthesis and reaction design.
  • Proficiency in normal and reverse-phase chromatography.
  • Ability to analyze product composition and purity using NMR, HPLC, and MS.
  • Solid understanding of medicinal chemistry, biochemistry, and PK/PD principles.
  • Strong independent working ability and effective time management.
  • Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills, both oral and written.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary Range: $133,500 - $217,800 (Actual compensation will depend on experience, education, and location).
  • Bonus Program: Full-time employees are eligible for company bonuses based on individual and company performance.
