Position: Senior Scientific Advisor, Medical Communications
Location: Remote (US-based candidates only)
Travel: 10–20%


Job Summary

The Senior Scientific Advisor, Medical Communications, is responsible for developing and delivering high-quality scientific content aligned with client strategies and branding objectives. The role involves collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), and cross-functional teams, to ensure the timely and compliant delivery of scientific communications.


Key Responsibilities

1. Development of Scientific Content

  • Author and support publications and presentations on product and disease state information to align with client strategy.

  • Create and present content across multiple media platforms in support of client objectives.

  • Critically review external technical and scientific reports for content development.

  • Review clinical and regulatory documents to ensure content compliance.

  • Identify and propose scientifically sound and creative solutions to meet client business needs.

2. Partner with Key Stakeholders to Meet Project Objectives

  • Directly interact with clients to ensure objectives are met.

  • Collaborate with internal scientists and external partners.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with KOLs relevant to assigned compounds and therapeutic areas.

  • Participate in KOL meetings and negotiations to develop strategically aligned content.

  • Develop advisory board materials in collaboration with clients and KOLs, and facilitate meetings when needed.

  • Implement compliant strategies for communication of scientific, pipeline, or clinical insights.

  • Stay current on industry trends and global best practices in medical communications.

  • Provide scientific expertise on product strategy, study design, and clinical rationale.

  • Report project updates and resource needs to the Head of Medical.

3. Collaborate with Client Services Team

  • Serve as the client liaison for content development.

  • Provide project status updates to ensure adherence to timelines and client communication.

4. Support Marketing Team

  • Assist in developing content-related pitch materials.

  • Contribute scientific knowledge and ideas for proposals.

  • Attend pitch meetings alongside Marketing and Client Services.

  • Maintain awareness of the medical environment, potential products, and clients.

  • Conduct market assessments and share findings for internal strategy discussions.

  • Inform Marketing of any scope changes to contracted work, as determined with the client.

5. Non-Essential Duties

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in medical communications within an agency setting.

  • PhD (preferred) or PharmD in a relevant field.

  • Experience developing scientific platforms.

  • Strong background in relevant therapeutic areas.

  • Proficient in accessing and extracting key information from medical resources.

  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.

  • Strong team player with individual initiative and accountability.

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.

  • Solutions-oriented with strong organizational skills.

  • Willingness to travel for client meetings, advisory boards, conferences, and pitch presentations.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Potential base pay range: $95,100 – $237,700 (annualized)

  • Actual pay varies based on qualifications, experience, location, and schedule.

  • Incentive plans, bonuses, and other compensation may be offered.
