Role Overview:
The primary responsibility of the US Medical Affairs Clinical Research Physician (CRP) is to provide expert medical and scientific support across various facets of the oncology/hematology business, with a particular focus on cancer outcomes. This includes supporting drugs in development, marketed products, and the disease state. The CRP will play a leadership role in understanding therapeutic environments, generating critical scientific evidence, and disseminating scientific data to optimize patient outcomes in oncology/hematology.


Key Responsibilities:

Environmental Insights and Customer Engagement:

  • Understand and anticipate the scientific information needs of external customers, including oncologists, payers, patients, and healthcare providers.
  • Engage external customers through 1:1 interactions, advisory boards, and congress-related activities.
  • Build and cultivate relationships with key oncology thought leaders.
  • Develop medical strategies to support pre- and post-commercialization activities in collaboration with global medical affairs, clinical development, and brand teams.
  • Identify and address clinical care gaps in oncology/hematology.
  • Provide medical support for internal field training of medical and commercial personnel.
  • Collaborate with relevant professional societies and stay up to date with emerging scientific data to inform strategy.
  • Deliver scientific and medical presentations and lead medical advisory boards.
  • Identify key medical meetings and congresses to participate in and contribute (e.g., Med Affairs station, abstracts, posters).
  • Assist with selecting external experts and clinical advisors and maintain key relationships related to clinical trials, guidelines, and advisory boards.

Evidence Generation:

  • Identify evidence gaps and develop proposals to address them.
  • Lead data analyses and clinical/health outcomes research to address customer inquiries.
  • Collaborate with clinical development teams to inform drug development plans and clinical trials.
  • Participate in the identification and selection of investigators, in partnership with clinical development teams.
  • Contribute to the development of collaborative and investigator-initiated research (IIR) plans and publications.

Scientific Data Dissemination/Exchange:

  • Address scientific information needs of external customers, following global procedures.
  • Analyze, interpret, and communicate scientific data to generate disclosures.
  • Support medical education initiatives, including congress symposia, CME, and omnichannel education.
  • Review and contribute to medical letters, slide decks, and other materials.
  • Provide scientific input into the development and approval of promotional materials for the commercial brand team.
  • Contribute to the creation of medical and disease state educational content, including clinical care gap solutions.

General Responsibilities:

  • Partner internally and externally to execute medical priorities.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives and effectively communicate across all organizational levels.
  • Adapt to the changing clinical landscape and program priorities.
  • Shape hematology strategy and execution plans, including training and onboarding of the medical team.

Basic Requirements:

  • Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO), board-eligible or certified in an appropriate specialty/subspecialty.
  • Completed medical education from a school recognized by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME).
  • 2-5 years of experience in medical affairs, clinical development, or a similar role.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in oncology/hematology, with expertise in B-cell leukemias and lymphomas (e.g., CLL and mantle cell lymphoma).
  • Experience launching oncology products, with prior experience in the CLL space being highly desirable.
  • Proven ability to balance scientific and business priorities.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally to support business needs.
  • Fluency in English (verbal and written).
  • Understanding of the US healthcare system, regulatory environment, and payer landscape.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Base Salary Range: $198,000 - $290,400 (actual salary dependent on qualifications, experience, and location).
