Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced Trainer – Medical Coding (HCC) to join our Chennai-based team. This role is ideal for certified medical coders with strong training capabilities who can deliver structured HCC coding education, guide coders on payer-specific requirements, and support denial management and compliance initiatives.
The successful candidate will play a key role in training, mentoring, and upskilling HCC coders, ensuring alignment with payer guidelines, regulatory standards, and evolving industry practices.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver structured training programs aligned with the HCC coding training agenda
Research and interpret payer guidelines, ensuring accurate payer-specific coding knowledge
Analyze and interpret medical records across multiple specialties to support denial analysis and corrective actions
Provide continuous education and refresher training for assigned clients and coding teams
Support internal compliance audits for HCC coders and auditors
Stay current with industry updates, regulatory changes, and coding guideline revisions
Track trainee performance, analyze learning outcomes, and support ramp-up readiness in collaboration with Client, SD, and SQ teams
Mentor coders to improve coding accuracy, compliance, and denial management capabilities
Required Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of the Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) lifecycle
Hands-on expertise in HCC coding and denial management
Excellent training delivery, communication, and team management skills
Strong analytical ability to interpret complex medical records and coding scenarios
Ability to simplify coding concepts for effective knowledge transfer
Proficiency in ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding conventions
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum 3 years of experience as a Medical Coding Trainer, preferably in HCC coding
Active AAPC or AHIMA certification (CPC, CRC, CCS, or equivalent required)
Proven experience training and mentoring coders on HCC coding and denial management
Experience supporting compliance audits and quality initiatives
Training experience for certification-oriented programs is an added advantage
