About the Role

Med-Metrix is hiring experienced Medical Coders for its Chennai office. This opportunity is ideal for certified coding professionals with expertise in CPT, ICD-10, Medicare compliance, and healthcare claims processing. The selected candidate will play a critical role in ensuring accurate clinical coding, audit compliance, and optimized reimbursement workflows within a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Professionals with strong analytical skills, coding accuracy, and experience in surgical coding, inpatient DRG, outpatient coding, denials management, or SDS coding are encouraged to apply.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed medical coding audits and coding reviews to ensure accurate clinical documentation and compliance

  • Assign and sequence appropriate CPT and ICD-10 codes for healthcare services rendered

  • Collaborate with billing teams and workflow queues to support accurate claims processing and reimbursement

  • Ensure compliance with Medicare coding policies, coding initiatives, and regulatory guidelines

  • Independently manage assigned coding work queues and maintain productivity standards

  • Maintain strict confidentiality of patient records and Protected Health Information (PHI)

  • Follow HIPAA regulations, information security policies, and organizational compliance standards

  • Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance coding quality and operational efficiency

  • Support management with additional coding and compliance-related responsibilities as assigned


Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • High School Graduate or equivalent qualification required

Certifications Required

  • CPC Certification from AAPC
    OR

  • CCS Certification from AHIMA


Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on medical coding experience

  • Experience in specialties such as:

    • IP DRG Coding

    • Outpatient Coding

    • Denials Management

    • SDS Coding

    • Surgical Coding (preferred)


Required Skills

  • Strong understanding of CPT, ICD-10, and Medicare coding guidelines

  • Knowledge of healthcare reimbursement and claims workflows

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

  • Ability to work with medical coding and billing software systems

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities

  • High attention to detail with strong organizational skills

  • Professional attitude with the ability to work independently

  • Customer-service-oriented personality with strong interpersonal skills


Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Office-based work environment with minimal noise levels

  • Ability to sit for extended periods and operate computers and office equipment
