We’re seeking a Full Stack Member of Technical Staff (Software Engineer) to join our growing R&D teams. At athenahealth, engineers tackle diverse technical challenges across product and platform teams.

Qualifications

We’re seeking passionate developers eager to solve challenging problems and create products that medical professionals and patients rely on daily.

Must-Haves:

  • A passion for learning and making a difference through technology.
  • Ability to adapt quickly and work collaboratively towards goals and deadlines.
  • Experience reading and writing code in at least one programming language.
  • Relevant technical or Computer Science (CS) degree is a plus but not required; non-traditional backgrounds are welcome.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • 3-5 years of software engineering experience.
  • Proficiency in one or more core programming languages, such as C#, C++, or Java.
  • Experience with modern programming languages like Python, Node.js, or JavaScript.
  • Familiarity with relational databases (SQL, RDBMS) or Big Data/NoSQL technologies.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Exposure to object-oriented programming, distributed computing (Hadoop, Spark), RESTful APIs, modern JavaScript frameworks, microservices, and CI/CD tools.
  • Agile development experience is preferred.
