Medical Promotional Review Consultant

Job Description:
ProPharma is seeking a Medical Promotional Review Consultant to provide expert, medically accurate, and regulatory-compliant reviews of promotional and non-promotional materials for healthcare providers, patients, and payers. You’ll serve as the medical lead on Promotional Review Committees (PRCs), evaluate the scientific integrity of marketing content, and ensure all material aligns with FDA guidelines and clinical evidence. This is a part-time, remote-based consulting opportunity.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead medical reviews of promotional materials (HCP, DTC, disease awareness, managed care, etc.) for assigned products.

  • Serve as the medical/scientific representative during PRC meetings.

  • Ensure compliance with FDA regulations and internal standards regarding advertising claims.

  • Analyze and validate medical and clinical content from scientific literature, clinical trials, and prescribing information.

  • Advise on appropriate medical/scientific support for claims and identify potential risks.

  • Collaborate on label change communication and ensure message alignment.

  • Stay current with relevant data, treatment guidelines, and regulatory updates (FDA, OPDP, FTC, NAD, etc.).

  • Communicate PRC outcomes and risk issues to broader medical team and escalate when needed.

  • Contribute to cross-functional meetings, prioritization discussions, and tactical execution.


Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Deep understanding of clinical data, FDA labeling, and advertising regulations.

  • Strategic and forward-thinking with the ability to identify risk and provide compliant medical guidance.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail.

  • Expertise in evaluating promotional claims against approved labeling and clinical evidence.

  • Proficiency in tools such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and Veeva Vault PromoMats.

  • Ability to work independently and manage complex projects remotely.


Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Medical, Communications, or related field (required)

  • PharmD highly preferred


Experience Requirements:

  • 5+ years in pharmaceutical or biotech industry (medical affairs or regulatory promotional review)

  • May consider equivalent experience from healthcare advertising agencies

  • Strong project management experience in pharma preferred


Salary Estimate:
Estimated range: $60 – $90 USD/hour (based on part-time consultant rates for medical review professionals in the U.S.)
