Technical Subject Matter Expert – Life Sciences / Clinical Development | $155K–$170K | Hybrid (US)


Job Summary

Cognizant is seeking an experienced Technical Subject Matter Expert in Life Sciences R&D with a strong background in Clinical Development to drive strategic growth across key life sciences accounts in North America. This hybrid role requires a high-impact professional with expertise in R&D transformation, solution sales, and stakeholder management. With a salary range of $155,000–$170,000, the role involves travel (30–40%) and strong collaboration with internal and client-side teams to expand Cognizant’s footprint across clinical, pharmacovigilance, regulatory, and process development domains.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead go-to-market strategy and R&D engagement across clinical, regulatory, PV, and research functions

  • Develop and execute growth plans across assigned accounts

  • Sell transformation solutions in clinical development and R&D

  • Build and manage stakeholder relationships, including C-level executives

  • Lead commercial negotiations and manage contracts

  • Represent Cognizant in sponsor meetings and support strategic planning

  • Coordinate with global sales and delivery teams to align solutions with client needs

  • Analyze client pain points and position Cognizant solutions effectively

  • Create and deliver technical/commercial proposals

  • Track client satisfaction and monitor business value delivery

  • Support marketing and lead generation initiatives through events and campaigns


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in client-facing roles across consulting, software, IT services, or analytics

  • Deep subject matter expertise in Clinical Development and Life Sciences R&D

  • Proven success in driving R&D strategy, growth, and stakeholder engagement

  • Strong consultative approach with experience in cross-sell/up-sell

  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills with a focus on client needs

  • Contract negotiation and commercial deal management experience

  • Willingness to travel up to 30–40%

  • Location preference: San Francisco, Boston, or Bridgewater (Hybrid preferred)
