Pharmacy Technician Supervisor - Job Summary

This full-time role focuses on supervising and coordinating pharmacy technician operations in a retail setting. The position involves training, evaluating, and scheduling pharmacy technicians while ensuring workflow efficiency, quality assurance, and compliance with policies. The role supports inventory control, customer service, and serves as a leader in the pharmacy team.


Key Responsibilities

Training & Leadership

  • Train and orient new associates in dispensing technologies, pharmacy systems, and third-party insurance claims processing.
  • Serve as a leader by fostering a positive work environment and promoting teamwork.
  • Provide feedback and evaluations to ensure the quality and competence of pharmacy technicians.
  • Support retail pharmacy efficiency improvements through suggestions and process refinement.

Operational Duties

  • Perform outpatient pharmacy tasks, including prescription order entry, medication selection, and coordination of medication delivery.
  • Maintain and update unit-based dispensing systems and access documentation.
  • Manage inventory control policies to ensure cleanliness, accurate stock levels, and compliance with formulary guidelines.
  • Act as a backup Pharmacy Buyer when necessary.

Quality Assurance

  • Oversee quality assurance activities such as adverse drug event monitoring and maintaining inventory par levels.
  • Conduct staff competency assessments and ensure high standards of customer service.
  • Manage point-of-sale (POS) systems and cash handling processes.

Qualifications

Education & Skills

  • Required: High School Diploma.
  • Strong organizational and leadership abilities.

Experience

  • 4–6 years of technical pharmacy experience.
  • 0–2 years of leadership/management experience preferred.

Licenses & Certifications

  • Required: Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) - National.

Work Schedule

  • Schedule: To Be Determined (Full-Time).
