Position Overview:

We are looking for a dedicated Senior Specialist, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) to join our team in Spokane, WA. The Senior EHS Specialist will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and ensuring compliance with a comprehensive environmental, health, and safety program. This role includes leading EHS inspections, investigations, safety training, and managing waste and hazardous materials compliance.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Waste Management:

    • Oversee hazardous waste management including CAA & SAA inspections, waste shipment coordination, waste manifest tracking, and hazardous waste container supply.
    • Complete annual hazardous waste reports, and review/approve waste invoices.
    • Develop and revise waste profiles and ensure proper waste determination for all onsite waste streams.
  • EHS Program & Training:

    • Develop and revise EHS training programs for staff.
    • Conduct facility EHS inspections, including pollen and Sullivan inspections.
    • Coordinate and ensure compliance with wastewater permits (pH calibration, DMR report, sampling events).
    • Lead and coordinate compliance inspections and monthly reports.
  • Safety and Compliance:

    • Act as the lead investigator for all major events, including recordable injuries and accidents.
    • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other state and local environmental, health, and safety regulations.
    • Develop and revise standard operating procedures (SOPs) in collaboration with other teams.
  • Chemical & Respirator Management:

    • Oversee facility-wide chemical inventories and chemical storage compliance.
    • Coordinate respirator training and ensure compliance with EHS training requirements.
  • Additional Responsibilities:

    • Act as a DOT expert in the shipment of hazardous materials.
    • Manage badging processes for EHS contractors.
    • Assist with work project development (creating Work Orders, managing costs, obtaining bids, and creating purchase orders).

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor of Science in Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, Chemistry, or a related scientific field.
  • Certifications:
    • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP) certifications are desired.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 5 years of related experience in EHS, preferably in the pharmaceutical or manufacturing industry.
  • Skills:
    • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments.
    • Knowledge of federal, state, and local EHS regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT compliance.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a dynamic environment.

Compensation:

  • Salary Range:

    • $67,725 to $100,000, depending on experience.
