Sr. EP Field Clinical Specialist – Central/Western US

Role Summary

The Sr. EP Field Clinical Specialist provides technical and clinical support for Abbott’s Electrophysiology (EP) Business Unit (BU) technologies. This role supports clinical research studies, site operations, product troubleshooting, and project management. The position functions as a field-based expert in clinical procedures, EP technologies, and protocol execution, acting as a scientific liaison between Abbott and healthcare professionals.


Key Responsibilities

Clinical Support

  • Provide field support for clinical research enrollment and procedures using Abbott EP BU technologies.

  • Serve as a technology, protocol, and clinical trial procedure expert for sites, stakeholders, and research personnel.

  • Facilitate site initiation, training, and qualification processes, including contract and budget discussions.

  • Develop site-specific enrollment strategies and troubleshoot challenges to optimize study goals.

  • Ensure accurate technical support and product reporting, including handling field issues and troubleshooting.

Project & Territory Management

  • Maintain knowledge of clinical sites in assigned territory and monitor study progress.

  • Collaborate with Clinical Scientists, study teams, and Clinical Site Leads to provide feedback on study design, procedures, and product experiences.

  • Identify and communicate best practices for clinical trial execution and territory management.

  • Facilitate continuous performance improvement and site capability development.

  • Provide mentorship and guidance to other field clinical staff.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Clinical Affairs, Medical Affairs, R&D, Marketing, and Commercial teams to support EP BU projects.

  • Act as a scientific interface with healthcare professionals and provide feedback to Product Planning and Marketing groups.

  • Support development, review, and delivery of training materials, presentations, and product launches.

Technical Expertise

  • Serve as a resource for challenging technical/protocol troubleshooting scenarios and product testing.

  • Utilize critical thinking to identify issues, implement solutions, and prevent recurrence.

  • Deepen expertise and function as a regional clinical and technical resource.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Biological Sciences, or related field (or equivalent certification in Cardiology/Electrophysiology).

  • 3+ years of relevant clinical experience in the cardiovascular field.

  • Field-based EP clinical background with experience in EP/Cath lab protocols and procedures.

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.

  • Strong verbal and written communication, presentation, and influence skills.

  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines with attention to detail.

  • Ability to travel up to 80% and lift up to 25 lbs.


Compensation

  • Base pay range: $75,300 – $150,700 (may vary by location)
