Role Overview
Johnson & Johnson is looking for a Real-World Data (RWD) Data Scientist to join the Data Science and Digital Health team within Innovative Medicine Research & Development. This role will focus on working with real-world data sets to enhance clinical trial productivity and efficiency. The RWD Data Scientist will be responsible for building complex cohort queries, creating visualizations, and supporting study teams in analyzing data for clinical trials.
Key Responsibilities
Cohort Building & Data Analysis:
Build complex cohort queries using SQL against differently formatted datasets.
Integrate site lists with information about physicians, practice sites, patient counts, diversity, and other metrics for site selection.
Support the creation of diversity plans for clinical trials.
Data Visualization:
Build informative visualizations, such as heat maps, Sankey diagrams, and other charts, for study teams.
Create RWD study dashboards to track and analyze data effectively.
Collaboration & Optimization:
Work closely with data science, clinical study teams, and other stakeholders to optimize queries and generate desired outputs.
Collaborate in the development of patient journey visualizations and cohort localization.
Process Automation:
Automate processes for cohort creation to streamline workflows and improve efficiency.
Qualifications
Education: Master’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., computer science, epidemiology, computational biology, statistics, or related discipline).
Experience:
At least 3 years of relevant experience in healthcare or life sciences, particularly in an R&D environment, commercial, medical affairs, or scientific affairs.
Strong hands-on experience in data science within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry.
Experience with medical coding (e.g., ICD-10, LOINC, SNOMED, NDC) and familiarity with large healthcare datasets (e.g., EHR, insurance claims, registry data).
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in SQL for querying databases.
Experience with programming languages such as Python (preferred), R, C++, or Java.
Familiarity with data visualization tools like R, Spotfire, or Tableau.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
