About the Role
Labcorp Drug Development is seeking a Senior Clinical Veterinarian to provide surgical and veterinary care for laboratory animals. In this role, you will ensure that animals are provided with humane and adequate care in compliance with animal welfare regulations and help maintain AAALAC accreditation. You will also provide advice on animal care, assist in training staff, and monitor animal health and welfare.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide medical and surgical care to laboratory animals at an independent, senior level.

  • Assist the site lead veterinarian in ensuring compliance with animal welfare regulations and company policies.

  • Train staff on animal health, welfare, and veterinary procedures.

  • Assist with animal welfare-related regulatory duties (e.g., USDA, Home Office regulations, AAALAC, client visits).

  • Serve on the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) or Ethical Review Panel (ERP) as needed.

  • Perform physical and ophthalmic examinations on laboratory animals in accordance with protocols and SOPs.

  • Provide scientific expertise to staff on animal health, biology, physiology, and research methodology.

  • Represent the company at scientific meetings and contribute to the field through publications or presentations.

  • Report animal care concerns and assist with corrective actions.

  • Advise on specialized areas such as anesthesia or ocular care.

  • Lead and complete assigned team projects.

  • Mentor junior veterinarians and/or technicians.

Minimum Requirements

  • Graduate of an AVMA accredited or equivalent veterinary program with ECFVG or PAVE certification.

  • 4-5 years of experience in laboratory animal medicine.

  • Veterinary license in at least one state with the ability to obtain USDA accreditation in the state of employment within 6 months.

  • Board certification or eligibility for certification in the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine preferred.

  • Knowledge of small and large animals used in research.

  • Experience with surgical models and complex anesthesia/analgesia protocols preferred.

  • Experience with clinical and surgical management of canines and nonhuman primates preferred.

  • Ability to work in a laboratory setting with laboratory animals.
