Senior Scientist – Formulation Lab

Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Scientist to join our Formulation and Technology Center in Mumbai, India, within Life Science R&D. The role focuses on strategic formulation and process development for small and large molecule parenterals, including peptides. Experience with generics, complex parenteral drug products such as lipid nanoparticles (LNPs), liposomes, or controlled-release dosage forms is desirable. This position also emphasizes analytical tools, product scale-up, and adoption of emerging technologies, including AI-assisted formulation development.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop parenteral formulations, optimizing excipient selection, impact, and reproducibility.
Lead process development and scale-up for small and large molecule drugs, including peptides (e.g., GLP-1).
Apply analytical techniques such as chromatography, light scattering, and particle analysis for formulation evaluation.
Drive adoption of new technologies and digitalization in formulation and analytical workflows.
Manage a diverse excipient portfolio and collaborate across functions including R&D, regulatory affairs, commercial teams, and customers globally.
Participate in customer visits, trainings, and thought leadership activities.
Represent early-stage development in internal and external partnerships.
Travel up to 10% within India and internationally as required.
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or related field (Ph.D. preferred).
Minimum of 5 years of industry experience in drug product development, process development, and technology transfer.
Proven expertise in parenteral formulation and process development, including experience with complex drug delivery systems (nanoparticles, LNPs, controlled-release injectables).
Hands-on experience with analytical tools such as chromatography, light scattering, or particle size analysis.
Experience collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent presentation and communication skills in English (written and verbal).
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and leverage digitalization and automation in pharmaceutical development.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with AI-assisted formulation development or digital tools in drug development.
Track record of innovation in early-stage parenteral product development.
