Position Overview
The Senior Research Associate will be responsible for planning, setting up, and executing chemical reactions to synthesize molecules and compounds as per client requirements. The role demands strong expertise in Organic or Medicinal Chemistry, accurate documentation, strict adherence to safety standards, and delivery of high-quality intermediates and final compounds.
Key Responsibilities
1. Reaction Planning and Execution
Understand project requirements and synthetic routes as specified by the client.
Review and discuss the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) with supervisors and team members.
Identify potential safety hazards and implement mitigation measures.
Set up and execute reactions using appropriate reagents, glassware, stirrers, vacuum pumps, and other laboratory equipment.
Maintain specified reaction parameters such as temperature, pressure, and reaction duration.
Ensure efficient and parallel execution of multiple reactions.
Monitor reaction progress using analytical techniques and adjust conditions as needed.
Identify and perform suitable workup and purification techniques to obtain intermediates and final products with required quality standards.
Analyze analytical data, interpret results, and document observations.
Meet productivity benchmarks including number of reactions, steps completed, compound purity, and project timelines.
2. Laboratory Safety and Compliance
Comply with all safety protocols and good laboratory practices.
Ensure proper maintenance and use of instruments and lab equipment as per SOPs.
Maintain high housekeeping standards within the laboratory.
3. Documentation and Data Integrity
Accurately document experiments, reaction conditions, and observations in laboratory notebooks.
Uphold strict data integrity and intellectual property (IP) confidentiality requirements.
Assist in preparing final project reports as needed.
4. Continuous Learning and Team Contribution
Enhance subject knowledge in organic synthesis, analytical techniques, and safety practices through training and discussions with supervisors.
Participate in internal knowledge-building programs and professional development activities.
Functional and Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of organic chemistry, especially synthetic methodologies.
Understanding of safety protocols, MSDS, and laboratory best practices.
Working knowledge of analytical techniques used for reaction monitoring.
Familiarity with IP confidentiality standards and data integrity policies.
Ability to conduct cost-benefit analysis and ensure optimal resource utilization.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirement: MSc in Organic Chemistry or Medicinal Chemistry.
Experience Required: 1 to 5 years of relevant experience in chemical synthesis or related laboratory roles.
Candidates with research publications in recognized scientific journals will be preferred.
