Position Summary

The Senior Patient Recruitment and Engagement Lead is responsible for developing, executing, and managing global patient recruitment and retention strategies. This role involves close collaboration with clients, project teams, and vendors to ensure recruitment targets are met while maintaining compliance and optimizing patient experience.


Key Responsibilities

Functional Leadership

  • Act as the Functional Lead for recruitment and retention strategy within assigned studies.

  • Collaborate with Project Leads, Clinical Team Managers (CTMs), and CRAs to align goals.

  • Train project team members on recruitment best practices and methods.

  • Identify potential risks, develop contingency plans, and escalate issues when necessary.

  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in patient recruitment and retention during client communications.

  • Track and report on key enrollment metrics and study progress.


Strategy Development

  • Design and implement comprehensive patient recruitment and retention strategies.

  • Identify recruitment challenges and develop risk mitigation plans.

  • Partner with clients and internal teams to tailor strategies for specific protocols and populations.


Third-Party Vendor Management

  • Oversee vendor performance, ensuring quality and compliance with expectations.

  • Manage vendor invoices, budgets, and financial coordination with internal Finance teams.

  • Facilitate communication between vendors, clients, and project teams.


Patient Diversity Initiatives

  • Collaborate with the Patient Diversity Team to integrate diversity goals into recruitment plans.

  • Ensure client diversity requirements are incorporated and tracked.

  • Monitor diversity metrics throughout the study and report progress to clients.


Patient Enrollment Optimization

  • Partner with Patient Enrollment Optimization Vendor Leads to streamline vendor oversight.

  • Review vendor performance and provide structured feedback for improvement.

  • Document and share recruitment success stories and lessons learned for future reference.

  • Support proposal development and bid defenses related to recruitment leadership activities.


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline.

  • 5+ years of direct patient recruitment experience in clinical research or healthcare settings.

  • Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong client-facing and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities; ability to manage multiple projects.

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret recruitment data for decision-making.

  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations, patient privacy laws, and ethical standards.

  • Proficiency in project management software and digital tools.

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.


Additional Requirements

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

  • Must pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening.

  • Ability to work remotely and independently in a fast-paced environment.

  • May require occasional travel (0–20%) as needed.
