About the Role

Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicines is seeking an experienced Senior Medical Science Liaison (Senior MSL), Dermatology/Immunology, to support scientific engagement across the Indianapolis territory, including Joliet, Illinois. This field-based scientific role focuses on external education, stakeholder collaboration, and evidence-based support for healthcare professionals and opinion leaders.

The Senior MSL will serve as a scientific expert in Dermatology and Immunology, supporting both current and future products aligned with the therapeutic area. The position requires strong scientific acumen, experience in clinical or research environments, and the ability to build trusted relationships with regional healthcare leaders.

Key Responsibilities

Territory & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Develop, manage, and execute a strategic field territory plan aligned with therapeutic priorities.

  • Build long-term scientific relationships with opinion leaders, clinicians, and healthcare providers (MD, PA, NP, RN, PharmD, research coordinators).

  • Deliver balanced, evidence-based information through in-person and virtual interactions, prioritizing in-person scientific exchange when appropriate.

  • Respond to unsolicited scientific inquiries with current data, real-world evidence, and relevant clinical insights.

Scientific Exchange & Education

  • Present scientific and clinical information tailored to the needs of healthcare providers and institutions.

  • Stay current on dermatology/immunology science, emerging trends, and competitive landscapes.

  • Lead or support scientific and strategic Immunology projects aimed at addressing clinical education gaps.

  • Represent Johnson & Johnson at scientific congresses, symposia, advisory boards, and investigator meetings.

Research Support

  • Support investigator-initiated research and company-sponsored studies by identifying sites, facilitating trial activities, and resolving site queries.

  • Collaborate with Medical Affairs, R&D, and operations teams on research initiatives.

Medical Insights & Internal Collaboration

  • Capture, document, and communicate medical insights to internal partners to inform strategy, planning, and evidence-generation priorities.

  • Participate in team learning sessions, journal clubs, and scientific discussions.

  • Partner with field-based teams to support educational initiatives and training.

Operational Excellence

  • Complete administrative responsibilities, documentation, and compliance requirements accurately and on time.

  • Adhere to regulatory and healthcare compliance standards across all activities.

  • Travel approximately 75–80 percent of the time within and occasionally outside the assigned geography.


Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Advanced medical degree required: PharmD, PhD, MD, NP, or PA.

  • Minimum 3+ years of relevant therapeutic area clinical experience.

  • At least 2+ years of experience as a Medical Science Liaison, or 2+ years of related experience in clinical practice, research, or pharmaceutical roles.

  • Demonstrated expertise presenting scientific information to diverse healthcare audiences.

  • Ability to travel up to 80 percent, including overnight and weekend commitments.

  • Valid U.S. driver’s license with a clean driving record.

  • Must reside within the assigned territory.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Dermatology or Immunology therapeutic areas.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and remote engagement tools.

  • Residence in or near Indianapolis, IN or Joliet, IL.


Compensation & Benefits

  • Expected Base Salary: USD 137,000 – USD 235,750 annually.

  • Eligibility for annual performance bonus under company incentive programs.

  • Eligibility for a company-provided vehicle through the Fleet Program.
