Position Overview

Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Pharmacist to support patient-centered pharmacy services within the Patient Service Center located in Pittsburgh, PA. This role is responsible for optimizing therapeutic outcomes, ensuring medication safety, and coordinating patient care in alignment with the organization’s clinical and operational standards.

This position is part of the Medical Affairs Group and contributes directly to advancing clinical excellence, therapeutic accuracy, and patient experience across the pharmacy service continuum.

Role Purpose

The Clinical Pharmacist ensures appropriate and effective medication therapy management, collaborates with healthcare professionals, and oversees pharmacy operations related to dispensing, verification, and clinical support. The role also includes guiding pharmacy technicians, maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, and participating in multi-state licensure initiatives to support expanding service coverage.


Key Responsibilities

Clinical and Operational Responsibilities

  • Verify prescription drug orders for completeness, clinical appropriateness, and safety.

  • Communicate with prescribers and healthcare teams to clarify orders and optimize therapeutic outcomes.

  • Provide medication counseling to patients to support adherence, safety, and positive clinical results.

  • Oversee prescription verification throughout the dispensing workflow.

  • Participate in on-call and after-hours prescription fulfillment, including emergency requests.

  • Supervise pharmacy technicians in daily operational activities and workflow management.

  • Monitor medication inventories and supplies in accordance with established protocols.

  • Support and implement continuous quality improvement initiatives.

  • Ensure proper handling and dispensing of cold-chain products following approved procedures.

  • Contribute to ongoing pharmacy licensure requirements and pursue multi-state licensure where necessary.

  • Perform additional assigned tasks aligned with operational and clinical goals.


Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Registered Pharmacist degree from an ACPE-accredited institution.

  • Active, unrestricted Pennsylvania Pharmacist License.

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in a non-commercial, specialty, or retail pharmacy setting.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and maintain high accuracy in a fast-paced environment.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Specialty Pharmacist (CSP) credential.

  • Experience working with REMS-restricted products.

  • Experience verifying and dispensing cold-chain medications.

  • Pharmacist licensure in multiple U.S. states.


Work Environment

This role follows a hybrid work model, combining onsite responsibilities at the Pittsburgh facility with remote work capabilities as needed.
