Role Overview: Senior Medical Advisor (CVRM)

A senior, office-based medical leader responsible for:

  • Providing scientific and strategic leadership within the CVRM Therapy Area.

  • Driving Medical Affairs Plans that combine evidence generation, practice transformation, stakeholder engagement, and enhanced healthcare ecosystem strengthening.

  • Leading major cross-functional initiatives and supporting business unit goals.

  • Acting as a medical expert and strategic partner across internal and external stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities

1. Scientific Expertise

  • Maintain deep clinical/scientific knowledge in CVRM, disease state management, pipeline therapies, and competition.

  • Contribute to and lead development of the Therapy Area Field Medical Strategic Plan (FMSP).

  • Act as a subject matter expert for internal teams and external stakeholders.

  • Support training and mentorship within the therapeutic area.


2. Medical Strategy & Clinical Input

  • Ensure FMSP aligns with Medical Affairs Strategic Plans.

  • Develop integrated engagement plans involving traditional and non-traditional stakeholders.

  • Support development of Medical and Brand strategies.

  • Prioritize activities to align with portfolio goals.

  • Identify and lead scalable, sustainable clinical practice transformation initiatives.

  • Utilize digital tools and dashboards for data-driven decision-making.

  • Share field insights to shape internal strategy and actions.

  • Provide regular updates on progress, gaps, and mitigation plans.

  • Drive medically-led initiatives to improve patient outcomes.

  • Lead educational programs, develop clinical tools, and support integration of medical advancements.

  • Promote healthcare ecosystem innovation through partnerships and technology adoption.


3. Medical Governance & Compliance

  • Provide expert medical review and approval of product-related materials, conference documents, and scientific content.

  • Ensure marketing materials meet company standards, regulatory norms, and scientific accuracy.

  • Support compliance to ensure all activities follow AstraZeneca policies and local regulations.


Education, Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Medical degree with specialization or relevant experience in CVRM or related therapeutic areas.

  • Extensive experience in Medical Affairs within the pharmaceutical industry.

  • Strong understanding of field medical operations.

  • Excellent stakeholder management abilities.

  • Strong project management and organizational skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication.

  • Ability to work collaboratively across cross-functional teams.

Desirable

  • MBBS, MD preferred.

  • Innovative, solution-oriented mindset.

  • Experience in research, drug development, and lifecycle management.

  • Understanding of the broader Medical Affairs landscape.
