Purpose of the Role:

The Clinical Research Physician (CRP) - Neuroscience plays a pivotal role in the medical affairs, development, and business unit teams by providing scientific and clinical expertise. The CRP supports strategic planning for product launch and commercialization while ensuring that activities meet the needs of patients, healthcare providers (HCPs), and payers. This role requires active collaboration with global Development teams, Therapeutic Area Program Phases, Early Phase/Clinical Pharmacology, and Translational Medicine teams. The CRP will also contribute to developing and executing global and regional clinical/medical plans for the therapeutic area (Neuroscience, including Alzheimer’s Disease, Dementia, etc.), conducting and reporting clinical trials, and supporting product pricing, reimbursement, and access.


Primary Responsibilities:

Provision of Medical Expertise:

  • Neuroscience Expertise:
    • Provide expertise in Neuroscience, specifically in Alzheimer’s Disease, Dementia, and related conditions, for the Lilly Neuroscience product portfolio.
    • Develop and maintain knowledge of the respective molecule’s data.
  • Medical Strategy and Brand Commercialization:
    • Contribute to medical strategies that support brand commercialization and medical education activities.
    • Ensure the integration of scientific and medical expertise with regional/global teams.
  • Scientific and Medical Leadership:
    • Lead and mentor Medical Affairs Professionals (MAPs) and Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs).
    • Ensure the scientific and clinical input into the development of payer partnerships and defend product value.

Scientific Data Dissemination/Exchange:

  • Scientific Publications:
    • Lead the process of scientific publications and disseminate data relevant to the product’s therapeutic area.
  • Regulatory and Health Technology Assessments (HTAs):
    • Contribute to regulatory submissions and HTAs with appropriate scientific and clinical data.
  • Medical Education:
    • Provide training to sales representatives, other medical personnel, and MSLs on the respective therapeutic area and product data.
    • Offer presentations to HCPs and stakeholders on disease, product, and clinical data.

Clinical Research & Trial Execution:

  • Clinical Trial Selection and Planning:

    • Lead the process for selecting and developing India Clinical Trial (CT) plans.
    • Participate in investigator interactions, site selection, trial initiation meetings, and issue resolution.
  • Implementation and Support:

    • Execute Global/Regional CT plans in consultation with Clinical Operations to meet timelines and quality standards.

External Relations:

  • Health Care Professional (HCP) Engagement:
    • Identify and engage with relevant HCPs, advocacy groups, and government bodies.
    • Drive involvement of HCPs in local, national, and international meetings and publications.
  • Collaboration with Professional Societies:
    • Build and maintain relationships with relevant professional societies in Neuroscience.

Compliance and Education:

  • Regulatory Compliance:

    • Ensure compliance with local laws, Good Clinical Practices (GCP), and global policies regarding scientific data dissemination and interactions with external stakeholders.
  • Compliance with Promotional Materials:

    • Approve and review promotional and non-promotional materials in line with local compliance guidelines.
  • Training:

    • Provide training on scientific and medical materials to both internal teams and external stakeholders.

People Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Mentorship:
    • Provide leadership to direct reports like MAPs, including performance management, career development, and ongoing coaching.
  • Team Collaboration:
    • Work closely with MSLs to enhance their scientific knowledge, support their medical field planning, and ensure the effective execution of field medical strategies.

Qualifications:

Basic Requirements:

  • Education:

    • Basic Medical Qualification (MBBS, MD, or equivalent).
    • Full Medical Council registration or eligibility for registration.
  • Therapeutic Area Expertise:

    • Experience in Neuroscience, specifically in Alzheimer’s Disease, Dementia, and related conditions, is highly desirable.
  • Experience:

    • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to balance scientific and business priorities.
    • Leadership capabilities and a demonstrated ability to drive initiatives.
  • Communication Skills:

    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to deliver presentations and engage with HCPs, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Travel:

    • Ability to engage in domestic and international travel to support business needs.

Desired Skills:

  • Clinical & Industry Expertise:
    • Prior clinical and/or industry experience in Neuroscience.
  • Leadership and Organizational Skills:
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to changing needs, and lead teams effectively.
