Senior Field Clinical Specialist – Central (WI, IL, KY)

Role Summary

The Senior Field Clinical Specialist provides technical and clinical support for Abbott’s Heart Failure (HF) Business Unit (BU) technologies. This field-based role supports clinical research study procedures, site operations, product troubleshooting, and territory management. The position functions as a regional expert, providing guidance on clinical procedures, challenging technical scenarios, and acting as a liaison between Abbott and healthcare professionals.


Key Responsibilities

Clinical Support

  • Facilitate strong performance and capabilities of study sites in the assigned territory.

  • Provide field support for clinical research enrollment and procedures using Abbott BU technologies.

  • Serve as a technology, protocol, and clinical procedure expert for sites, stakeholders, and research personnel.

  • Support sites in taking on more complex trials or larger volumes.

  • Collaborate with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and commercial partners to educate and highlight clinical trial insights.

Project & Territory Management

  • Identify issues, implement solutions, and develop plans to prevent recurrence of variances from site expectations.

  • Communicate study updates and critical site information proactively to BU, FCA Management, and study teams.

  • Identify and share best practices for territory management.

  • Serve as a regional clinical and technical resource, deepening expertise.

Leadership & Mentorship

  • Actively participate in HF Consortium activities.

  • Serve as a study champion and provide feedback on product performance.

  • Mentor other Field Clinical Specialists (FCS) staff.

  • Deliver additional value at a national level beyond primary responsibilities.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Biological Sciences, or related field, OR equivalent experience in cardiology or clinical research.

  • 5+ years of progressively responsible clinical work experience in the cardiovascular field.

  • High competency in Cath Lab and Operating Room protocols and procedures.

  • Recognized as a leader/expert beyond local territory.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder engagement.

  • Ability to travel approximately 75%, including internationally.


Compensation

  • Base pay range: $75,300 – $150,700 (may vary by location)
