Position Overview

The Senior Field Clinical Specialist plays a critical role within Abbott’s Heart Failure (HF) business, supporting clinical research, field operations, and the deployment of advanced technologies for heart failure diagnosis, monitoring, and management. This position is responsible for delivering expert-level technical and clinical support for clinical studies, product evaluations, field training, and site performance.

This is a senior-level role requiring strong leadership, advanced technical capability, and the ability to manage complex clinical activities across multiple sites within the Central Region (WI, IL, KY).


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert-level clinical and technical support for Abbott BU technologies during clinical research activities

  • Manage field operations, technical troubleshooting, and territory-specific clinical study responsibilities

  • Support installation and execution of clinical study procedures across assigned sites

  • Identify and resolve protocol or technical issues through analytical and critical-thinking approaches

  • Develop and strengthen study site capabilities for high-volume and complex clinical trials

  • Collaborate closely with Business Unit teams, Field Clinical Affairs leadership, and cross-functional partners

  • Deliver clear and timely communication on site performance, study updates, and clinical priorities

  • Lead regional education efforts with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and commercial partners

  • Participate in national-level initiatives, HF Consortium activities, and product advisory groups

  • Provide insights on product performance and contribute to product testing and evaluation activities

  • Mentor junior Field Clinical Specialist staff and provide training support as needed


Required Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Biological Sciences, Life Sciences, or related discipline;
    Equivalent experience in cardiology or clinical research may be considered

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive clinical experience in cardiovascular technologies, cardiology procedures, or clinical research

  • Demonstrated expertise in cath lab and operating room procedures

  • Recognized as a clinical or technical leader beyond the local territory

  • Strong capability in critical thinking, troubleshooting, communication, and stakeholder management

  • Ability to travel up to 75%, including domestic and international travel

Compensation

Base Pay Range: USD 75,300 – 150,700
(Compensation may vary based on location and experience.)
