Position Overview

The Senior Electrophysiology (EP) Field Clinical Specialist is a remote, field-based role supporting the Central and Western United States. This position provides advanced technical, clinical, and research support within the Electrophysiology Business Unit (EP BU) and plays a key role in clinical study execution, site training, troubleshooting, and stakeholder collaboration.

Candidates must be able to travel up to 80%, including frequent visits to clinical research sites.


Key Responsibilities

Clinical Research & Trial Support

  • Provide field support for study enrollment and procedure execution using Abbott EP technologies

  • Act as a subject matter expert on EP technology, clinical trial protocols, and procedural requirements

  • Train clinical site personnel on study protocols, technology use, and trial processes

  • Develop site-specific strategies to enhance patient recruitment and adherence to study goals

  • Monitor site performance, identify operational challenges, and implement corrective strategies

Territory & Site Management

  • Maintain detailed knowledge of assigned clinical sites and their capabilities

  • Support site qualification, initiation, start-up processes, and contract/budget escalation when needed

  • Provide ongoing feedback to stakeholders on site productivity, enrollment, and study-related issues

  • Collaborate with Clinical Site Leads to optimize data quality and share best practices

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Clinical Affairs, Medical Affairs, R&D, Marketing, and Commercial teams to support key initiatives

  • Serve as a scientific and clinical interface with healthcare professionals

  • Provide input on product performance, procedural workflow, and competitive insights

  • Support creation and review of training materials, presentations, product education, and launch activities

Leadership & Strategic Contribution

  • Function as a regional technical expert and resource across the EP clinical ecosystem

  • Mentor other Field Clinical Specialists

  • Actively contribute to national-level initiatives and organizational improvement projects

  • Support high-profile product evaluations, advisory boards, and critical testing activities


Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, biological sciences, or a related field
    (Equivalent cardiology or electrophysiology certification accepted)

  • Minimum 3 years of progressively responsible clinical experience in the cardiovascular domain

  • Strong background in EP Lab and/or Cath Lab procedures

  • Proven field-based clinical support experience in electrophysiology

  • High proficiency with MS Office Suite

  • Recognized leadership capability beyond local territory

  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence at multiple organizational levels

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Ability to travel up to 80% during active clinical trial phases

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs


Compensation

The salary range reflects the full grade level for this role. Hiring is typically conducted around the midpoint of the range.
