Job Summary

Baxter is seeking a Senior Engineer-Software to develop and provide innovative solutions for our software products. This role, based in Bangalore, will involve working with the Software Manager for Global Surgical Solutions (GSS). The ideal candidate will have a passion for product development, a strong technical background, and a focus on meeting patient needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Problem Solving & Innovation:

    • Identify technical problems and provide innovative solutions while sharing technical knowledge with the team.
    • Leverage business, market, and competitive knowledge to create adaptive technical solutions.
  • Design & Quality Assurance:

    • Review and approve the design of software modules and projects.
    • Ensure the quality of software releases and address field-reported issues in a timely manner.
    • Provide input into product-level test strategies.
  • Mentorship & Collaboration:

    • Mentor development and test teams on design and development best practices.
    • Collaborate with Project Managers to define and resolve engineering challenges.
    • Participate in design reviews and Engineering Change Board meetings.
  • Continuous Improvement:

    • Take ownership of process and product quality, identifying and resolving gaps.
    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by challenging established work processes.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration:

    • Work with internal and external teams in the development and maintenance of products.
    • Report quality or compliance concerns and implement corrective/preventive actions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education & Experience:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer/Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
    • 6 to 9 years of experience in embedded software development.
  • Technical Skills:

    • Expertise in embedded software development and maintenance of embedded/distributed systems.
    • Proficient in Object-Oriented design, with experience in programming languages like Embedded C, C++, Python, etc.
    • Knowledge of Embedded OS such as Embedded Linux, VxWorks, FreeRTOS, and other similar platforms.
    • Familiarity with communication protocols (CAN, I2C, Bluetooth, UART, SPI, USB, TCP/IP).
    • Experience with CI tools like Visual Studio, Eclipse, SVN, Git, Jenkins, Jira, etc.
    • Experience with code quality tools (Coverity, Fortify, Unit testing).
  • Domain Knowledge:

    • Strong understanding of the healthcare domain, including medical software development processes and standards.
    • Knowledge of cybersecurity technologies is a plus.
  • Soft Skills:

    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
    • Strong decision-making abilities and the ability to influence others.
    • Proactive, self-driven, and results-oriented with a strong problem-solving mindset.
