Position Title: Data Monitoring Committee (DMC) Project Coordinator

Department: Clinical Development Services
Reports To: Line Manager / DMC Project Lead
Location: Office-based or remote (as approved by Line Manager)


Summary of Responsibilities

The DMC Project Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and supporting all activities related to Data Monitoring Committees (DMCs). This role ensures the timely and high-quality delivery of DMC services, compliance with project budgets and timelines, and effective communication between sponsors, internal teams, and committee members.


Key Responsibilities

Project Coordination and Oversight

  • Coordinate and support all DMC-related activities, including:

    • Timeline generation

    • DMC member selection

    • DMC contract coordination and review

    • Charter development

    • Travel arrangements and logistics

    • Meeting organization, preparation, attendance, and documentation

    • Expense tracking and reporting

  • Monitor workflow and project status to ensure all DMC deliverables and deadlines are met.

  • Ensure compliance with project budgets; identify out-of-scope activities and escalate as appropriate.

  • Develop and maintain DMC tracking tools and status reports.

Communication and Liaison

  • Serve as the primary liaison between the sponsor and the DMC.

  • Facilitate communication among internal project teams, clients, and DMC members.

  • Conduct and document internal DMC support team meetings.

  • Provide guidance to clients and internal teams regarding DMC processes and best practices.

Quality and Documentation

  • Maintain project-specific documentation, including Study Master Files (setup and maintenance).

  • Perform quality control (QC) checks on DMC deliverables.

  • Ensure delivery of high-quality work through ongoing quality review and continuous improvement.

  • Organize the storage and archiving of all project documentation.

  • Adhere to Fortrea SOPs, the Quality Management System (QMS), and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).

Leadership and Mentorship

  • Mentor and provide quality oversight for less experienced DMC project coordinators.

  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives within Clinical Development Services.


Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a health-related field.

  • Equivalent relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Experience

  • 2–6 years of experience in a relevant discipline, including direct DMC experience.

  • At least 2 years of additional relevant experience in clinical research, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, or CRO settings (e.g., Clinical, Safety, Data Management).


Skills and Competencies

  • Strong attention to detail and high degree of accuracy.

  • Effective team player with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.

  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.

  • Proven ability to balance multiple concurrent priorities and meet tight deadlines.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Good understanding of the clinical trial process and GCP guidelines.

  • Customer-focused approach and professional demeanor.

  • Ability to anticipate and proactively address issues.

  • Appreciation of how day-to-day activities impact Fortrea’s business objectives.


Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Work performed in an office or home-based environment, as determined by the line manager.

  • May require occasional travel to support DMC meetings or client interactions.
