Job Summary:
Lilly is seeking a Senior Director of Ethics and Compliance to support the newly created India Hub. This position will lead the India Affiliate (Gurgaon) and Lilly Capabilities Center India (LCCI) in ensuring adherence to Lilly’s global ethics and compliance program. The Senior Director will work closely with business leaders to assess risks, implement compliance strategies, and ensure operations comply with Lilly’s ethical standards, local laws, and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ethics and Compliance Leadership:

    • Lead the implementation of Lilly’s ethics and compliance program within the India Hub, ensuring alignment with global policies, regulations, and industry standards.
    • Work closely with senior leadership to address risk factors, and ensure compliance with Lilly’s Code of Conduct (The Red Book), local laws, and relevant regulations.
    • Develop and maintain an understanding of the business strategies of the India Affiliate and LCCI, providing expert advice to ensure compliance at all levels.
  • Team Leadership and Development:

    • Lead and mentor a team of Ethics and Compliance professionals across India sites, fostering a high-performance, inclusive environment.
    • Attract, retain, and develop top talent within the team, providing coaching and development to enhance career progression and leadership potential.
    • Foster an open, collaborative culture that promotes teamwork and encourages communication across teams.
  • Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Collaborate with other risk functions to analyze program effectiveness and ensure risk mitigation plans are in place.
    • Engage with external industry groups, representing Lilly in ethics and compliance peer groups, ensuring the company is aligned with industry best practices.
    • Partner with affiliate and business leaders to embed compliance into decision-making and operational processes.
  • Governance and Risk Management:

    • Drive compliance assessments and develop action plans to address potential risks in the organization’s practices.
    • Lead investigations with ethics and compliance implications and collaborate with HR on “speak-up” cases and investigations.
    • Ensure compliance training programs are effective and tailored to meet business needs.
  • Monitoring and Reporting:

    • Develop and implement effective monitoring plans to evaluate and manage business risks.
    • Provide actionable insights to leadership, using data analytics and risk management tools.
    • Ensure corrective and preventive action plans are executed following monitoring or investigative findings.

Required Skills and Expertise:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline; advanced degree (J.D, C.P.A) preferred.
  • 15+ years of professional experience, with at least 5 years in ethics, compliance, legal, or finance roles, preferably in the healthcare or pharmaceutical sector.
  • Proven experience in managing teams and navigating matrix environments.
  • Ability to lead and drive change while effectively managing risk and ensuring compliance.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to build consensus and facilitate decisions.
  • Strong understanding of the healthcare industry’s legal and regulatory environment, particularly in India.
  • Supervisory experience with demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams in a collaborative manner.

Additional Skills and Preferences:

  • Significant leadership experience in managing complex global compliance programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to make informed business decisions and challenge issues constructively.
  • Strong strategic skills, with the ability to translate ideas into actionable execution plans.
  • Willingness to travel within India and other Lilly locations as required.
