Overview:

LabCorp is seeking an experienced Senior Cytogenetics Technologist to join our Miami, FL team. This role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, customer-focused, and challenging environment while contributing to LabCorp’s mission: “Improving Health, Improving Lives.”


Work Schedule:

  • 1st Shift, Per Diem (as needed)

Job Responsibilities:

  • Determine specimen acceptability for testing based on established criteria

  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures following SOPs

  • Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation

  • Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem-solving

  • Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls

  • Report accurate and timely test results for quality patient care

  • Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures

  • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies

  • Assist with specimen processing as needed

  • Maintain a safe work environment and use appropriate PPE


Requirements:

Education & Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical/Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or equivalent (meets CLIA & State requirements)

  • Florida Cytogenetics Technologist License required

  • Certified by the National Credentialing Agency (NCA) in Cytogenetics (CLSp-CG) is a plus

  • ASCP or AMT certification preferred

Experience:

  • Minimum 4 years of clinical laboratory testing experience

Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

  • Proficient with computers; familiarity with laboratory information systems a plus

  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills

  • Must pass standardized color vision screening

  • Flexible to work overtime or other shifts as needed

Medical & Safety Requirements:

  • Successful completion of medical surveillance testing post-offer:

    • TB testing

    • Proof of immunity or vaccination for Hepatitis B, Varicella, MMR

    • Annual flu vaccination

    • Color blindness testing (if required)

  • Reasonable accommodations considered for medical/religious exemptions
