Job Summary
The Senior Business Analyst – Clinical Data Foundation plays a key role in bridging the gap between business stakeholders and technology teams within Amgen’s clinical research ecosystem. The role focuses on gathering and translating business requirements into epics, features, and user stories for development teams working on clinical data platforms and enterprise applications.
You will work closely with product managers, engineering teams, UX designers, and stakeholders to ensure technical requirements are clearly defined, prioritized, and delivered through Agile software development processes. The role involves maintaining product backlogs, defining acceptance criteria, managing release scopes, and ensuring quality delivery of IT solutions that support clinical research and drug discovery initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with Product Managers and System Architects to manage business analysis activities
Capture the voice of customers and stakeholders to define business processes and product needs
Translate complex business requirements into clear, actionable development tasks
Write epics, features, and sprint-sized user stories for Agile development teams
Define acceptance criteria and definition of done for product features
Work with development teams to refine product backlogs and prioritize releases
Support Agile ceremonies such as backlog grooming and sprint planning
Align business process maps and technical requirements with UX designs
Develop product demonstrations for stakeholders
Maintain documentation for system configurations, requirements, and changes
Identify and manage technology and system risks
Support testing scenarios and validation processes
Required Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Pharmacology, Information Systems, or related field
9–12 years of experience in business analysis, product management, or technology roles within life sciences or healthcare
Strong knowledge of Agile software development methodologies (Scrum)
Experience writing user stories, acceptance criteria, and requirements documentation
Hands-on experience using JIRA or similar Agile project management tools
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Ability to translate technical concepts into business language
Preferred Skills
Experience in clinical development systems or pharmaceutical research technology
Knowledge of clinical data platforms and enterprise data solutions
Experience with Databricks or cloud-based analytics platforms
Familiarity with cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
Understanding of DevOps, Continuous Integration, and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD)
