Position Overview:

The Research Chemist will work hands-on in the laboratory, primarily involved in developing and optimizing synthesis methods for novel compounds. This role requires strong technical expertise in synthetic organic chemistry, as well as the ability to collaborate within a team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Laboratory Work: Conduct hands-on research and experiments in the laboratory, focusing on synthesis methods for novel compounds.
  • Synthesis Development: Develop and optimize methods for synthesizing new compounds to support drug development projects.
  • Analysis: Perform analysis of synthesized compounds using techniques like TLC, NMR, HPLC, and UPLC-MS.
  • Data Reporting: Analyze and report data systematically, ensuring accurate documentation of findings.
  • Scientific Thinking: Engage in scientific thinking and innovation to produce new knowledge and contribute to ongoing research efforts.
  • Team Collaboration: Operate effectively as a team member, collaborating with colleagues and contributing to the success of research projects.

Required Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Education: Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Organic Chemistry or a related applied science field.
  • Experience:
    • Hands-on experience in synthetic organic chemistry.
    • Experience in using analytical techniques such as TLC, NMR, HPLC, UPLC-MS.
    • Proficient in ChemOffice programs and databases.
    • Experience with scientific research tools such as SciFinder and Reaxys for chemical searches.
  • Skills:
    • Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to follow instructions.
    • Flexibility to adapt to sudden changes in tasks and priorities.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills in both Finnish and English.
    • Systematic and careful approach to synthesis and analysis.
    • Ability to analyze data and communicate findings clearly.
    • Ability to quickly learn new information and methodologies.
    • Capacity for scientific thinking and innovation in research.
