Job Summary

Novartis is seeking a Scientific Lead – Medical Communications to join its Hyderabad office. This critical role involves shaping scientific strategies, overseeing high-quality medical communication deliverables, and mentoring content development teams across complex therapeutic areas. Candidates with over 5 years of international medical communications experience within the pharmaceutical industry are encouraged to apply.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead planning and execution of scientific communication strategies for assigned therapeutic areas.

  • Ensure alignment of medical communication deliverables with product/brand scientific goals.

  • Oversee development of original scientific content for publications, advisory boards, slide decks, and symposia.

  • Ensure scientific integrity, quality, and accuracy across all assigned projects.

  • Provide mentorship and training to writing teams on specific therapy areas.

  • Collaborate with US Medical Affairs teams for content development and business growth.

  • Offer strategic insights into competitors, product positioning, and market trends.

  • Communicate client needs, drive service improvements, and proactively resolve potential project risks.

  • Maintain thorough knowledge of product portfolios, therapy areas, and scientific landscapes.

  • Support audit readiness and compliance with internal SOPs and GPP3 guidelines.


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Degree in life sciences, pharmacy, medicine, or a healthcare-related field (PhD, PharmD, MD preferred).

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in international medical communications, preferably in pharmaceuticals.

  • Proven expertise in publications, slide decks, symposia, advisory boards, and standalone scientific content.

  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and project management skills.

  • Exceptional scientific writing, reviewing, and editing abilities.

  • Deep understanding of therapeutic landscapes and competitor analysis.

  • Familiarity with digital medical communication tools and innovations.

  • Experience working in cross-cultural, international environments.

  • Knowledge of Good Publication Practices (GPP3) and compliance guidelines.
