Position Overview:

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Scientific and Clinical Strategy:

    • Ensure alignment between scientific and clinical strategies for rare neurology disorders.
    • Act as a key interface between Takeda’s Neuroscience Drug Discovery Unit and Therapeutic Area Unit to drive program prioritization and decision-making.
    • Lead translational activities to support clinical trials for rare neurological disorders, including Huntington’s disease and other neuromuscular conditions.
    • Contribute to Takeda’s strategy in rare neurology disorders, ensuring readiness for future clinical trials and establishing early proof of concept.
  2. Collaboration and Leadership:

    • Collaborate closely with various teams, including Biomarker Sciences, Clinical Imaging, Digital Health Sciences, Statistics, and Computational Biology, to align scientific and clinical objectives.
    • Serve as the translational expert on Global Program Teams, Global Clinical Teams, and Preclinical Project Teams.
    • Lead sub-teams focused on translational and biomarker activities for Takeda’s neuroscience programs.
  3. Scientific Expertise:

    • Provide scientific insights into pathophysiology, drug targets, and biomarkers relevant to rare neurological disorders.
    • Stay up-to-date with the latest knowledge in rare neurological diseases and their clinical trial methodologies.
    • Contribute to the operational excellence of ongoing clinical trials and anticipate the need for novel scientific methods for future studies.

Qualifications:

  • Education:

    • PhD, MD, or MD/PhD in neuroscience or a related field.
    • At least 3 years of academic or industry experience in neuroscience.
    • 6+ years of post-doctoral experience in a relevant field (academic or industry).
  • Experience:

    • Expertise in rare neurological, neuromuscular diseases, and/or Huntington's disease.
    • Familiarity with biomarkers and clinical endpoints for rare neurological disorders.
    • Experience supporting clinical trials, either in academia or the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Skills:

    • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
    • Ability to critically evaluate scientific data and make strategic decisions.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
    • Ability to present complex scientific topics clearly to diverse audiences.

Travel Requirements:

  • Ability to travel for meetings or client site visits (up to 10-20% travel, including potential international travel).

  • Salary Range: $169,400 - $266,200 (based on experience and qualifications).
