Role Purpose

The Research Scientist will play a key role in conducting organic synthesis and troubleshooting plant processes for chlorinated products in the CDMO division. This role involves hands-on laboratory work, literature research, and the application of organic chemistry techniques to ensure the quality and safety of products being developed.


Key Responsibilities

Organic Synthesis

  • Conduct literature searches through patents, journals, Scifinder, and other resources.
  • Perform laboratory experiments as per assigned tasks, focusing on organic synthesis.
  • Handle hazardous gases such as chlorine, hydrogen, nitrogen, and others safely.
  • Apply practical knowledge of reactions like chlorination, nitration, reduction, and other fundamental organic reactions.
  • Troubleshoot existing chlorinated products in plant operations.
  • Utilize basic unit processes such as reactions, distillation, filtration, and drying.
  • Understand and apply material safety data sheets (MSDS) for chemical safety.
  • Maintain awareness and proficiency in using tools such as BAAN, ELN (Electronic Lab Notebook), SAP, etc.
  • Manage the indenting process for R&D lab items.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO documentation standards.

Teamwork and Collaboration

  • Foster coordination and cooperation with subordinates and cross-functional teams.
  • Adhere to safety rules and regulations, ensuring proper implementation within the team.
  • Maintain good laboratory practices (GLP) in all research activities.
  • Develop and maintain good communication skills and contribute to effective presentations.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports to track progress and outcomes.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Education: A degree in Organic Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • Practical experience in organic chemistry, specifically with reaction chemistry, distillation, and basic chemical processes.
    • Previous experience with hazardous chemicals and gases (chlorine, hydrogen, nitrogen) is preferred.
    • Experience in troubleshooting plant processes and working with chlorinated products is a plus.
    • Familiarity with laboratory management tools such as BAAN, ELN, SAP, etc.
    • Knowledge of ISO documentation standards is an advantage.
  • Skills:
    • Strong understanding of organic chemistry principles and practices.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
    • Strong attention to detail, time management, and discipline.
    • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and team-oriented environment.
