Job Description:

Designation: Research Investigator / Research Scientist (Level 7-I)
Department: Synthetic Chemistry
Location: Hyderabad

Role Requirements:

  • Education: Ph.D. with excellent communication skills, preferred. A minimum of 2 years' experience in the CRO industry is required.
  • Team Management: Ability to lead and manage a team of 3-6 scientists, design schemes, troubleshoot, and independently execute high-profile projects.
  • Shift Flexibility: Ability to work shifts as per organizational policy.
  • Collaboration: Excellent skills in cross-functional teamwork and customer engagement.

Strategic Responsibilities:

Safety:

  • Commitment to safety at all levels (self, team, lab, and organization).
  • Ensure zero safety incidents and non-compliances at the workplace.
  • Proactively report and learn from safety incidents or near-misses.
  • Implement safety training and ensure SOPs and checklists reflect comprehensive safety information.

Quality:

  • Ensure full compliance with Syngene’s quality standards and data integrity policies.
  • Maintain zero data integrity incidents and adhere to the ALCOA+ principles.
  • Ensure zero repeat audit observations and zero major/critical observations in external audits.
  • Ensure deviations are tracked and remain within set targets.

Delivery:

  • Responsible for Project Health Index, project planning, execution, and tracking KPIs.
  • Achieve quarterly improvement in key KPIs.
  • Assist Group Leaders and the department head with governance and project management tools for effective collaboration.

Engagement:

  • Excellent customer engagement and communication, providing flawless reports and presentations.
  • Maintain 0% business attrition with regards to scientific environment and work culture.
  • Support the implementation of a comprehensive client feedback collection system.

Cost Management:

  • Oversee the lifecycle of lab infrastructure and instruments.
  • Ensure optimum resource utilization and cost efficiency.
  • Maintain an appropriate scientist-to-chemist ratio in the team.

Compliance:

  • Adhere to ALCOA+ principles and maintain data integrity.
  • Ensure compliance with Gemba walk and timesheet requirements.
  • Ensure timely completion of mandatory training related to data integrity, health, and safety.

People:

  • Focus on leadership development, succession planning, and reducing critical talent attrition.
  • Build competencies and skills required for future business needs.
  • Demonstrate strong people management skills, including giving and receiving feedback, setting clear performance expectations, and coaching for improved performance.

Technical/Functional Skills:

  • Expertise in synthetic methodology (asymmetric synthesis, heterocyclic chemistry, catalysis, reaction mechanisms).
  • Troubleshooting skills for synthetic problems.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Maintain accurate scientific notebooks and write concise reports for publications.

Managerial Skills:

  • Experience in managing collaborations and handling 3-6 team members.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Lab management skills with an emphasis on team leadership and accountability.
