Role Overview:
As a Research Associate III – Materials SME, you will serve as a subject matter expert in polymer materials characterization and failure analysis. You’ll work with advanced technologies, collaborate with global teams, and apply deep technical knowledge to support product development, sustain existing products, and drive investigations in compliance with regulatory standards. This position plays a key role in Vantive’s materials science efforts across packaging, medical devices, and container systems.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead studies in polymeric material characterization and failure analysis across medical and packaging applications.

  • Act as study director for multiple programs, conducting hands-on instrument operation as required.

  • Apply advanced analytical techniques (e.g., DSC, TGA, MFI, FTIR, WVTR, microscopy) and provide data interpretation.

  • Present findings to stakeholders ranging from technical peers to senior leadership.

  • Mentor junior scientists on instrumentation use and data interpretation.

  • Contribute to technical reports, regulatory submissions, and internal documentation.

  • Maintain compliance with QSRs and other applicable regulations in R&D and product safety.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with SMEs, Quality, Regulatory, Preclinical, and Design teams to drive innovation.

  • Support process improvements, method advancements, and innovative approaches in material testing.


Candidate Requirements:

  • Education:

    • Ph.D. in Polymer Science/Chemistry/Engineering with at least 6 years of relevant experience, OR

    • Master’s degree with 9+ years, OR

    • Bachelor’s degree with 11+ years of experience.

  • Expertise:

    • Strong experience in polymer analysis using techniques such as DSC, TGA, MFI, FTIR, microscopy, WVTR.

    • Sound understanding of polymer properties, composition, and how processing impacts performance.

  • Skills:

    • Excellent communication skills (written & verbal).

    • Proficient in data analysis, technical writing, and documentation.

    • Critical thinking, problem-solving, and ability to provide data-driven recommendations.

    • Ability to work in collaborative, cross-functional environments with a proactive and inclusive mindset.

    • Adaptability and innovation-focused approach to challenges.


Salary: ₹17 LPA – ₹24 LPA (estimated based on SME-level material scientist roles in medical/pharma sector in India)
