Role Overview

The Regional Medical Advisor (CVRM) is a field-based scientific expert responsible for implementing Medical Affairs strategies for launched and pre-launch products in the Cardiovascular, Renal & Metabolism (CVRM) therapy area. The role involves scientific engagements, clinical practice shaping, and ecosystem partnership to improve patient outcomes and ensure the safe and effective use of AstraZeneca medicines.


Key Responsibilities

1. Scientific Expertise

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of disease state, AstraZeneca products, emerging therapies, and competitive landscape.

  • Contribute to and manage components of the Field Medical Strategic Plan (FMSP).

  • Serve as a scientific resource for internal teams and train colleagues where needed.

2. Scientific Exchange & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Conduct peer-level scientific discussions with healthcare professionals and key opinion leaders.

  • Provide unbiased, evidence-based medical and pharmaco-economic information.

  • Support scientific events including symposia, advisory boards, and expert panels.

  • Respond to unsolicited medical information requests in compliance with regulatory standards.

  • Collaborate with scientific leaders on investigator-initiated research and publication activities.

3. Insights & Strategy Contribution

  • Gather and analyze medical and market insights to inform internal strategy and product plans.

  • Identify gaps in patient experience and contribute to solution planning.

4. Relationship & Ecosystem Collaboration

  • Build strong partnerships with healthcare professionals and broader healthcare ecosystem stakeholders (e.g., government stakeholders, payer groups, research institutions).

  • Support local clinical studies and real-world evidence generation initiatives.

  • Drive scalable healthcare practice improvement initiatives.

5. Compliance & Governance

  • Adhere to AstraZeneca Global Field Medical Standards and local regulatory requirements.

  • Ensure compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), pharmacovigilance reporting, and ethical interaction guidelines.

  • Support internal teams in navigating ethical and regulatory frameworks.


Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Life Sciences or related scientific discipline.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong analytical thinking and project management capabilities.

  • Ability to engage and collaborate effectively across functions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree (M.D., Ph.D., Pharm.D.) is advantageous.

  • Prior pharmaceutical industry or clinical research experience.

  • Knowledge of drug development, medical education, and KOL management.
