About the Job

The CTSM Team Leader plays a key role in supporting clinical study leadership to successfully execute and deliver clinical studies. This position is responsible for overseeing and guiding a team of Clinical Trial Support Managers (CTSMs), ensuring their deliverables are met while driving excellence, collaboration, and continuous development.

Reporting to the CSO Study Management Head (India) and functionally to the Clinical Trial Support Head, the CTSM Team Leader ensures strong alignment across projects, fosters team culture, and contributes to ongoing process improvement initiatives.


Key Responsibilities

People Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and provide line management to CTSMs, fostering growth, motivation, and professional development.

  • Drive onboarding, qualification, expertise-building, and training for CTSMs to maximize team performance.

  • Provide individualized coaching, performance management, and conduct regular goal-setting sessions.

  • Build and manage development plans, ensuring continuous feedback and recognition of achievements.

  • Foster teamwork, open communication, and a collaborative culture.

  • Provide guidance and solutions for escalations raised by CTSMs.

Training & Development

  • Organize and facilitate onboarding and training sessions for CTSMs.

  • Develop documentation and resources to support team processes and best practices.

  • Lead recruitment, hiring, and integration of new CTSMs.

Study Oversight & Resource Planning

  • Maintain a high-level understanding of projects and priorities within the assigned CTSM team.

  • Ensure adequate resourcing and oversight to meet study timelines and milestones.

  • Promote consistency of processes and tasks across CTSMs.

  • Support process improvement initiatives, ensuring lessons learned and best practices are shared across the team.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with other CTSM Team Leaders, Clinical Trial Support Leads, and the Clinical Trial Support Head to ensure alignment and synergy.

  • Participate in and lead meetings with CTSMs, CTSLs, and CTSHs.

  • When required, interact with study teams and other Clinical Science and Operations colleagues to ensure seamless study support.


About You

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required (advanced degree in a scientific discipline preferred).

  • Experience: Minimum 2 years in clinical operations, including managing clinical studies.

  • Knowledge: Basic understanding of clinical development, GCP & ICH guidelines, and regulatory requirements (FDA, EMA).

  • Collaboration: Proven ability to partner with study leaders, cross-functional teams, and external stakeholders.

  • Problem-Solving: Skilled in identifying risks, anticipating issues, and implementing proactive solutions.

  • Adaptability: Comfortable working with new technologies, digital tools, and evolving processes.

  • Organizational Skills: Strong ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines independently.

  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to negotiate, lead meetings, and draft professional documents.
