Purpose:
Scientific data and information are core assets of Lilly. Providing balanced, objective, and accurate information to regulators, the scientific community, healthcare professionals, payers, and patients consistently and promptly across the entire drug development lifecycle is fundamental to Lilly.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Content Strategy: Document Preparation, Development, and Finalization/Document Management:

  • Collect and evaluate data, information, and input from multiple sources to create a cohesive content strategy.

  • Plan, write, edit, review, and finalize scientific publications including abstracts, posters, manuscripts, and presentations.

  • Conduct effective document initiation via a kick-off meeting to ensure authoring team alignment.

  • Build scientific-based rationale to support the purpose of complex and/or strategic documents.

  • Ensure that data are presented clearly, accurately, and concisely.

  • Coordinate expert/scientific reviews, collate reviewer comments, adjust content as required, and prepare final versions.

  • Perform quality checks for accuracy and consistency across related documents.

  • Advocate for appropriate authorship criteria on all applicable work products.

  • Work with internal and external speakers to develop and prepare presentations.

2. Project and Stakeholder Management:

  • Lead the writing process and apply effective project management skills to ensure timely completion of high-quality scientific publications.

  • Develop and communicate credible project timelines and mitigate risks to delivery.

  • Collaborate with teams and stakeholders to ensure smooth and timely document development.

  • Effectively communicate project status to stakeholders.

3. Knowledge and Skills Development:

  • Maintain and enhance therapeutic area knowledge, including disease state and compound(s) for assigned projects.

  • Continuously improve scientific communication skills aligned with audience needs and digital evolution.

  • Stay informed about publication guidelines and industry standards.

  • Develop a deep understanding of compound, therapeutic area, and external environment, contributing effectively to publication planning.

4. Knowledge Sharing:

  • Provide coaching to others by sharing technical information and offering guidance.

  • Recognized for technical expertise in document development.

  • Network with other functions and regions to identify and share best practices.

  • Contribute to process improvements and provide expertise on database and document management systems.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in a scientific field.

  • Experience in writing scientific publications.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Successful completion of a writing exercise (required as part of the evaluation process).

Other Information/Additional Preferences:

  • Advanced degree (PhD, MD, PharmD, MA, MBBS) in science, health-related field, or other appropriate disciplines.

  • Desired expertise in health, communications, health outcomes, health economics, public health, and related fields.

  • Mastery of verbal and written English in the medical, scientific, or technical writing fields.

  • Relevant experience in clinical development, clinical trial processes, regulatory activities, or health outcomes research.

  • Demonstrated project and time management skills.

  • High-level computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and document management systems.

  • Extensive experience in writing, reviewing, and publishing scientific materials.
