Responsibilities:

Coding & Compliance:
- Review and accurately code cases for maximum reimbursement.
- Code E/M visits and office procedures with precision.
- Research complex coding scenarios and provide solutions.
Performance Goals:
- Meet daily production targets.
- Maintain an average accuracy rate of 95% or higher.
Communication & Collaboration:
- Participate in conference calls to provide insights and feedback.
- Discuss coding or documentation issues with leadership.
- Attend department and education meetings.
Continual Learning:
- Stay current on orthopedic-specific and general coding guidelines.
- Expand skills into other specialties as needed.
Confidentiality:
- Protect sensitive information and maintain patient confidentiality.

Requirements:

Education:
- High School Diploma required; Associate or BS degree preferred.
Certifications:
- Active CPC or CCS-P certification required (CPC-A not accepted).
- Certification must be from AAPC or AHIMA and in good standing.
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on physician coding experience in:
  - Orthopedic surgical coding (hand/upper extremity, lower extremity).
  - E/M leveling and office procedures (e.g., joint injections, fracture care).
  - Additional experience in general surgery, neurosurgery, plastics, podiatry is a plus.
Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of:
  - Anatomy and physiology, medical terminology.
  - CPT, ICD-10 coding, modifiers.
  - Disease processes, surgical techniques, and Medicare/Medicaid billing policies.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience with electronic healthcare record systems and billing platforms.
