Position Summary:

The Production Chemist will be responsible for ensuring smooth operations within the plant according to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions. This role involves monitoring and managing the production process, maintaining high safety standards, and ensuring the effective functioning of plant equipment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate the plant based on instructions provided by the Shift In-charge (SIC).
  • Clean and maintain equipment used in the process area.
  • Monitor environmental conditions in the process area in real-time.
  • Record plant readings consistently to ensure compliance with operational standards.
  • Maintain online batch production records (BPRs) and GMP documents.
  • Manage raw material transfer and monitor material handling (including unloading/loading of materials from drums, tanks, etc.).
  • Collect process samples following instructions from the Shift In-charge while adhering to necessary safety protocols.
  • Ensure the safety of personnel and machinery within the plant.
  • Uphold high standards of housekeeping within the plant.
  • Adhere to the permit system and report deviations from standard practices.
  • Perform packing and labeling activities as per SOPs.
  • Contribute to Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and World Class Manufacturing (WCM) initiatives within the plant.
  • Implement and maintain 5S methodology to ensure an organized and clean workplace.
  • Be aware of and support Responsible Care principles related to Environment, Health, Safety, and Security.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education: Diploma in Chemical Engineering or B.Sc./M.Sc. in Chemistry or a related field.
  • Experience: 3–5 years of experience in a continuous chemical process or batch process plant.

Key Competencies:

  • Knowledge and experience in operating continuous chemical processes and batch processes.
  • Familiarity with the operation of reactors, filters, and centrifuges in batch processes.
  • Strong adherence to quality and safety norms in manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of Distributed Control System (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controller (PLC)-based plant operations.
  • Understanding of distillation operations and related processes.
  • Proficiency in material handling, including toxic or hazardous substances.
  • Familiarity with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
