Job Summary

The Process Coach – Coding is responsible for training, mentoring, and guiding medical coding trainees and team members to ensure accuracy, compliance, and adherence to coding standards. The role involves continuous performance monitoring, feedback, and development of training strategies aligned with organizational goals.


Key Responsibilities

Training & Development

  • Deliver comprehensive training to new joiners on medical coding concepts and guidelines.

  • Conduct on-the-job (OJT) sessions to ensure productivity and quality ramp-up according to targets.

  • Provide regular, structured feedback and one-on-one coaching sessions for performance improvement.

  • Educate team members on client specifications, coding updates, and industry best practices.

  • Design and implement variant training strategies tailored to learner needs.

Quality & Performance Monitoring

  • Monitor trainee productivity and quality output against ramp-up targets.

  • Review and communicate Quality Control (QC) feedback effectively to trainees.

  • Identify repeated errors and address them through focused retraining sessions.

  • Collaborate with Team Leads to provide inputs for early trainee confirmation.

  • Ensure overall compliance with process and quality requirements.


Job Specifications

Education:

  • Any graduate (life sciences background preferred).

Certifications (Mandatory):

  • Valid Medical Coding Certification such as:

    • CPC (Certified Professional Coder)

    • CCS (Certified Coding Specialist)

    • COC (Certified Outpatient Coder)

    • AHIMA or equivalent

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in medical coding, preferably with a specialty in Surgery.

  • Proven experience in coaching, mentoring, and training coders as per defined processes.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of medical coding guidelines and quality metrics.

  • Excellent training, coaching, and communication skills.

  • Ability to handle multiple trainees and maintain training quality.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and feedback delivery skills.

  • Detail-oriented and capable of identifying performance gaps.
