The Physician Program Director will work closely with internal teams to implement best practices and improve operational efficiency in hospitals, helping deliver heart recovery solutions to more patients.

Key Responsibilities:

Relationship & Program Development:

  • Establish formal Impella programs within hospitals by developing strong relationships with health systems, KOLs, and hospital administrators.
  • Identify opportunities for program growth, leveraging insights into hospital operations, and deploy tools to improve patient care and workflow.
  • Develop best practice implementations, protocol development, and workflow optimization to drive positive clinical outcomes.

Stakeholder Engagement & Advocacy:

  • Advocate for heart recovery programs to hospital administration, gaining alignment on projects and fostering commitment to long-term success.
  • Facilitate customer advisory boards to provide feedback on new products, development, and competition.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key decision-makers and influential healthcare professionals.

Scientific Leadership & Education:

  • Lead discussions on clinical data, health economics, and patient outcomes, presenting complex information in a clear and engaging manner.
  • Develop and lead peer-to-peer programs and educational sessions to support program implementation and growth.
  • Represent Abiomed at major medical conferences (e.g., ACC, TCT, SCAI) to engage with the medical community and promote heart recovery solutions.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Serve as a liaison between Abiomed’s leadership, clinical research, marketing, and sales teams.
  • Partner with commercial organizations to translate clinical best practices into actionable business strategies.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • BA/BS required; MBS or MBA preferred.
  • 4+ years of successful sales experience within Abiomed, or 7+ years in a related industry with a proven track record of success.
  • Prior KOL management experience or established relationships in the designated region is highly preferred.

Skills & Competencies:

  • In-depth knowledge of cardiac anatomy, clinical data, and the Impella system.
  • Strong understanding of US healthcare policy, hospital reimbursement, and physician payment systems.
  • Proven ability to build relationships with hospital administrators, KOLs, and other stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Excellent communication skills—both written and oral—with the ability to present complex information clearly.
  • Strong organizational and tactical execution skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
