Job Overview

Cincinnati Children's Hospital is seeking a Pharmacist for Critical Care and OR services. This part-time role involves all aspects of the medication use process, including procurement, prescribing, compounding, dispensing, storing medications, administering treatments, and monitoring patients. The pharmacist will collaborate with physicians and clinicians to optimize patient care, provide advice, and ensure safe medication practices. The role also involves educating patients, healthcare teams, and students about medication management.


Key Responsibilities

  • Medication Orders: Evaluate and process medication orders based on patient data (e.g., weight, allergies). Clarify any issues with medication orders and work with physicians and nurses to resolve them.
  • Intravenous (IV) Preparations: Prepare IV medications (TPN, antibiotics, chemotherapy, etc.), ensure accuracy, and provide training to other pharmacists and technicians.
  • Chemotherapy Orders: Process and verify chemotherapy orders with appropriate precautions and use of safety equipment.
  • Resource for Medication Information: Provide drug-related advice (dosage forms, drug interactions, etc.), review patient data for appropriate medication recommendations, and manage questions or problems in a professional manner.
  • Problem-Solving: Identify and address medication-related issues and take initiative when supervisors are unavailable.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or PharmD Degree
  • Licensure: Pharmacist License in the state of Ohio or ability to obtain it within 3 months of hire
