Pharmacist for Critical Care and OR
Part-Time, 20 hours/week, Rotating Shifts (including weekends)
Expected Starting Salary Range: $52.66 - $67.30 per hour

Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Pharmacist for Critical Care and Operating Room (OR) services. This part-time position involves overseeing the full medication use process, including procurement, prescribing, compounding, dispensing, storage, administration, and monitoring. The Pharmacist will collaborate closely with physicians and other clinicians to provide treatments and advice to patients, ensure safe medication practices, and stay updated on the latest pharmacy regulations and research advancements.

The role also involves educating patients, healthcare teams, students, and residents, as well as ensuring adherence to all regulatory and fiscal requirements. As a primary health professional, the Pharmacist will optimize medication use for patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Medication Orders: Evaluate orders based on patient weight, allergy history, and compatibility. Ensure accurate entry of medication orders and resolve issues in consultation with physicians or nurses.
  • Intravenous (IV) Preparations: Train other pharmacists and technicians in the unit dose and IV areas. Prepare all IV medications (TPN, antibiotics, chemotherapy) according to guidelines.
  • Chemotherapy Orders: Process chemotherapy orders, ensure accurate dosages and calculations, and adhere to safety protocols when preparing chemotherapy.
  • Serve as a Resource: Use up-to-date references to provide accurate answers to medication-related questions, review patient data, and make recommendations to physicians.
  • Regulatory Adherence: Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulatory requirements related to the safe procurement, storage, and use of medications.

Qualifications:

  • Required Education: Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or PharmD Degree
  • Licensing: Pharmacist License in the state of Ohio or eligibility to obtain one within 3 months of hire.
  • Experience: Previous experience in pharmacy practice, particularly in critical care or OR settings, is preferred.
